JONATHAN HOWARD

Jonathan is a Chartered Engineer with over 25 years of post-graduation Transport Planning and Highways experience.  He has a broad experience having worked for a main contractor, local highway authority and consultancy.  During the past 14 years Jonathan has provided transport planning and highways consultancy advice to both public and private sector clients promoting a diverse range of development projects.  High profile projects include: the 64 storey tower at 22 Bishopsgate and the 1200 bedroom Park Plaza Hotel at Westminster.

During his career Jonathan has developed and maintained a close working relationship with many clients and has become a trusted advisor, able to understand their objectives and able to provide strategic advice that seeks to eliminate risks and ensure success at planning.

Outside of work Jonathan enjoys time with his wife and two children, is a regular at the gym, and plays tennis and golf whenever he gets the chance.

lloyd bush

Lloyd has over 15 years of experience and holds a Masters Degree in Transport Planning and Engineering.  He has a wide breadth of knowledge having worked both within consultancy and local highway authority roles.  Lloyd has a strong technical skills and extensive experience in producing innovative and cost effective solutions to solve transport challenges.  Lloyd has developed close working relationships with an number of his clients and become their trusted advisor.

Lloyd has provided transport planning services which has helped secure permission for six London hotels, numerous residential led mixed-use schemes (ranging from 10 to 700 new homes), and over 100 education projects via Local Authorities, the Education Funding Agency or via Contractors. 

Outside work Lloyd has a keen interest in all Motorsport and can be spotted on the golf course (when the weather's nice).  He also enjoys exploring foreign places with his wife (with whom he travelled the world during a 6 month sabbatical).

chris gent

Chris is a Chartered Engineer with both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Highways and Transportation.  He has over fifteen years’ experience of transport planning, highway and traffic management from strategic and conceptual advice through to detailed design.

Chris has published research papers investigating the relationship between public transport availability, parking provision and development densities; and a study of the impacts of household parking restraint.

Chris has worked extensively leading transport planning and design support to planning applications, from boutique developments of one or two units, through all project sizes up to new towns of more than 10,000 homes.  Chris has worked across many property sectors including residential, office, retail, sport and leisure, education and healthcare; in London, and throughout the UK.  He has worked for both the public and private sectors on new build, re-build and regeneration schemes.

Chris’ approach is to make transport planning and design as smooth and accessible as possible for clients and co-professionals. He brings a wealth of knowledge of the requirements of residents, commercial occupiers and building operators / management companies, and understands where value engineering of transport and access arrangements can be successfully implemented while maintaining the all-important quality of the end product.

Outside of work Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and two children on their grandmother’s equestrian farm and B&B in Somerset, playing golf, and walking and skiing in the mountains.

david holdaway

With over eleven years’ experience David provides transport and highways advice to developers, contractors, project managers, architects, planning consultants, and local authorities.

David provides advice to inform pre-acquisition due diligence, design development, the preparation of transport evidence for planning, and post planning detailed design support.

In addition to advising on development planning projects of all sizes including transport assessments, delivery and servicing plans, and construction traffic management, David also brings strong experience across the development spectrum including feasibility studies, influencing travel behaviour, reverse logistics, stakeholder engagement, public consultation, examinations in public and performance monitoring and evaluation.

Other significant roles have included assistant programme manager for the Highways Agency’s Olympic Delivery Programme, project manager of Local Sustainable Transport Fund projects across the south east and on-going travel advisor to one of Europe’s largest and premier business parks.

David’s proactive and pragmatic approach and relationships with local authorities and stakeholders has in many cases led to accelerated planning approvals and agreements being reached and has helped reduce the extent of any conditions, S106 payments and S278 works required.

As an outgoing and enthusiastic character David has continuously made wider contributions to the industry and provided support to co-professionals through external engagements, networking events, and as Networking and Communications co-chair as part of a professional growth network.

David has published a technical paper entitled ‘Reverse Logistics and Returns Management - Reducing the Cost of Supermarket Returns’ having presented this at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Conference. As part of the technical paper David worked with a major UK supermarket retailer to assess their existing supply chain and reverse logistics operations and provided recommendations for reducing the cost associated with online and in-store customer product returns and improving returns yields.

His background, relationships and experience mean that he has a good understanding of the key transport issues likely to arise on developments and understands how best to achieve a successful outcome whilst ensuring a robust and high-quality submission.

In his spare time, in addition to spending quality time with his wife and two young children, he enjoys travelling, playing football, golf, and following boxing and mixed martial arts.

tom mabelson

Tom has over 10 years of experience providing transport planning, design and assessment to support projects through the planning process.  He provides due diligence and site acquisition support; leads the preparation of transport related planning application material; and provides post application support including negotiating planning consents and discharging planning conditions/obligations.

Tom enjoys providing transport planning advice to unlock the potential of challenging sites.  He has significant experience working on complex schemes and high-density development in London.  Schemes include One Blackfriars, 22 Bishopsgate, 1 Undershaft, Bankside Yards and Stephenson Street.

Tom works with project teams to provide cost-effective and efficient access, parking, servicing and street design solutions.  He leads discussions with key stakeholders with a focus on smoothly and efficiently securing planning consent. 

Tom is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation and a Member of the Transport Planning Society.

In his spare time Tom enjoys cycling and running and is currently training for a marathon.
